(Adapted from the FAW Welfare Policy Procedures and Practices)
please note there are separate documents for each of these areas on the website with more detail. See documents section.
Parents - General:
1. Encourage your child to play by the laws of the game.
2. Avoid pressurising players about winning or losing.
3. Support and encourage all players including the opposition.
4. Never publicly criticise your child or other players.
5. Do not question decisions made by the officials.
Parents - Conduct within the Club / League:
1. Focus on the effort and performance rather than the winning or losing. Recognise that the Coaches are following a long term programme of development for your child.
2. Do not coach from the side-lines; the only information to the players should come from the coaches
3. Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good play by both teams.
4. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
5. Show appreciation of volunteer Coaches, Officials and Administrators. Without them your child could not participate.
6. Discuss any concerns with the Team Manager / Leader or the club Secretary so they can address them directly.
7. DO NOT contact the League Secretary or the Area Association Secretary direct.
Players - General:
1. Show respect and fair play to your opponents.
2. Play within the rules of the game.
3. Encourage, support and co-operate with your team mates.
4. Respect the officials and accept all decisions with out question.
Players - Conduct within the Club / League:
1. Never argue with the officials. Concentrate on the game, you will not be able to effect a bad decision. Do not let it affect you.
2. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of Officials or other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted in any sport.
3. Work equally hard for yourself and / or your team. Your teams performance will benefit and so will you.
4. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they are by your team or the opposition.
5. Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of another player.
6. Co-operate with your Coach, team mates and opponents. Without them, there would be no competition.
7. Play for fun, and not just to please parents and coaches
8. Concentrate on the game your coach has asked you to play. Express yourself.
